We are always touched by the generosity of those who support our work, but this support is all the more amazing when it comes from a family who have recently had a child in treatment for cancer.

Layla was just 6 months old when she was diagnosed with a Wilms’ tumour in May 2013, surgery and chemotherapy followed and she is now in remission.

Layla’s parents Carley and Paul Anderson wanted to do something to give back by fundraising for a North East children’s cancer charity, and they organised an event around Layla’s first birthday to fundraise for the North of England Children’s Cancer Research Fund and the ward in which Layla received her treatment.

The result was a cheque for a massive £11,000, which was handed to the NECCR Chairman Chris Peacock at the RVI this morning.
